David Morris Window Cleaning is one of the latest companies to join a leading edge scheme, designed to help industry improve its safety record.
The Cornwall based firm recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a program which recognises very high standards of Health & Safety practices amongst UK contractors.
The company's application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by wanting to set new standards of safety in the window cleaning industry.
"By Joining Safecontractor it shows our clients how committed we are about their Health & Safety obligations while we are cleaning on their premises. So many businesses don't understand their obligations when employing window cleaners and we believe this is a step in the right direction to give them a choice of who to consider when employing window cleaning services."
Organisations and building owners can no longer run the risk of employing contractors who are not able to prove that they have sound health & safety policies. More companies need to understand the importance of adopting good risk management
Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process, which examines Health & Safety procedures and their track record for safe practice. Those companies meeting the high standard are included on a database, which is accessible to registered users only via a website.
